Where does the energy for vanity come from ?
In the past, it came from deep desire for a prettier version of myself. Today, investment into vanity no longer gives me the same kind of return on happiness. I cant muster the energy to keep at it.
There is a big difference in my face with grooming and without. I let myself go and don’t feel good about it. I want to make an effort again.
None of the steps listed above are over the top, wasteful or frivolous. Cultivating a habit is probably the way to keep at it without subjecting to fluctuations in my interest in vanity.

After I cut my hair in a pixie 2 years ago (hair loss due to stress and medication, mandatory bun bc of masks and working in a covid hospital) I use a shampoo bar, wash everyday and cut every two months. That’s my hair routine and I don’t see myself letting go of it.
