Reading :
“Individuals with high socio-economic status have high behavioral plasticity and capability to reduce their GHG emissions, especially in mobility by flying less and utilizing electric two, three, or four wheelers, by becoming role models of low-carbon lifestyles, by investing into low-carbon business, and by lobbying for stringent climate policies.” – IPCC.
Individual lifestyle choices matter in changing the socio-cultural norms required to combat climate change. IPCC Chapter 5 once and for all put an end to the debate. I read it twice.

To garden is to observe a million clocks tick. The faster ones are instant joy. The slower ones connect us to our collective history in time and place. By tending the soil, I can alter time, make plants grow faster.
Question for you :
Our local climate chapters have women below 35 and above 50. The child rearing years must be all consuming. How can we get more women included ? Or is it unfair to ask more of mothers ?
Dear Archana,
I am forty-one years old today. I am a mother of two children; a daughter (18) and a son (16). Although I do not belong to an organized group, I find resources and inspiration in the work of others to make meaningful changes to the lifestyle of my family. Thank you for sharing. During the children’s school years, it is often difficult to make additional commitments outside the home. (For example, all fitness classes are now at home workouts.) I promise women ages 35-50 are here with you. Please keep sharing and encouraging us until it is once again our turn to take a more active role.

Thank you for replying to me. We were thinking of having a kids movie night in half of our conference hall to engage kids to see if more moms want to come to the meeting. But absolutely, maybe we shouldn’t pack the already full plates of moms. I shouldn’t even be asking this question after seeing what the pandemic did to child care. Sometimes, I get carried away.
Hi 🙂 mother of three here and a woman of 34. I live in a country where parenting is shared between mom and dad, dads often go on parental leave as well, and share cooking/cleaning/parenting/etc 50% with moms. Which is awesome! And i do believe that impacts alot why i can be involved in things like this. I think if dads can take a bit more(ideal situation – 50%) that can help.
I see. Solving patriarchy is a climate solution too. Thank you for sharing with me. How silly of me to think having a movie play or an art night during meeting is a solution enough.
